“We appreciate all those who choose to fly PVD and are committed to doing our part to make your airport and travel experience healthy, safe, pleasant and easy,” said Iftikhar Ahmad, President and CEO of the Rhode Island Airport Corporation. “We remain dedicated in our efforts to continue enhanced cleaning and sanitization throughout the airport and are happy to provide complimentary “PVD Cares Kits” as everyone needs to be part of the solution to stop the spread of COVID-19.”
Even before the outbreak of COVID-19, T. F. Green Airport was implementing enhanced sanitizing protocols throughout the airport, utilizing Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) approved hospital grade disinfectants, electrostatic sprayers, and automated cleaning technology to efficiently and effectively sanitize escalator railings and other high touch areas throughout the terminal.
Airlines have also implemented their own enhanced cleaning and sanitization initiatives, and all airlines serving T.F. Green Airport now require that all passengers wear face coverings throughout the duration of their flight to combat the spread of COVID-19. In fact, a recent scientific study conducted by the U.S. Department of Defense’s United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) with the cooperation of United Airlines and other entities concluded that if passengers wear face coverings as directed, the spread of coronavirus is “extremely unlikely” in the aircraft cabin environment, noting a minimum reduction of 99.7% of simulated virus aerosols even for passengers seated directly next to an infected individuals because of how the air is circulated and filtered on the planes.

The Rhode Island Airport Corporation is also encouraging travelers to check individual airline policies regarding COVID-19 protocols, including face covering requirements.
